BioCeuticals BabyBiotic 0+yrs® is a dairy-free probiotic powder specifically designed to nurture healthy gastrointestinal microflora in neonates, infants and children.
BabyBiotic 0+yrs combines multiple strains of probiotics including Bifidobacterium breve (M-16V), B. infantis (M63) and B. animalis ssp. lactis (CUL34) and more - some of the most common probiotic strains present in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of healthy breastfed newborns and infants.
- Combines probiotic bifidobacteria and lactobacilli strains along with the prebiotic fibre inulin. Inulin is a prebiotic derived from chicory, which acts as a natural fuel for good bacteria.
- L. rhamnosus, included in the BabyBiotic 0+yrs®, is one of the most widely studied probiotics. From its isolation in the 1980s, when it was shown to have tolerance to the highly acidic environment of the stomach, to today, L. rhamnosus has been involved in over 400 scientific studies.
The tolerance for the acidic conditions in the stomach make L. rhamnosus a popular choice for oral-based probiotics, as they have the ability to survive gastrointestinal transit for long-term survival in the human digestive tract.
Probiotics should be taken with food. This is because the pH of an empty stomach is somewhere between 1.8 and 2.6; when you eat, the presence of food has a neutralising effect, increasing the pH to between 3.5 and 4.2, meaning it is nearly 100 times less acidic. Probiotic bacteria are much more likely to survive in this less acidic environment where they remain for approximately two hours awaiting movement into the small intestine.
